CREC Council Week Excitement in Texas.

General No Comments

I am here with the church where I work and am a member of, Auburn Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monroe, Louisiana. We are at our denomination’s general assembly which is meeting in Conroe, TX this week. It has been an exciting time of fellowship and connection with brothers and sisters from around the world. I have met people from England, Hungary, Russia, Poland, Vancouver, Japan and all four regions of the United States.

It is amazing to see this fairly new denomination with its natural growth and growing pains. The worship and singing has been robust. It is amazing to see several hundred pastors and attendees sing four part harmony the doxology and other songs. It is neat to hear the stories and experiences that churches all around the world are happening. Auburn Avenue Presbyterian Church was officially received by and seated into the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC). We had a book table for our Media, Publishing and Bucer Ministries.

I’ll say it again that it is truly refreshing to see people and fellowship with men from around the world. They are experiencing many of the same things that American churches experience but in different degrees and they often deal with them in different ways. It really bolsters your catholicity and faith when you think that there are men who are worshipping the same creator that we do, the Triune God. They may not speak the same language but the common faith is evident. It helps remind you that the faith is worldwide once delivered to all the saints. I find that I forget about it until I travel or come in contact with brothers and sisters from abroad.

I am able to put out some of our media resources for sale at our Media table. I am enjoying this time. Often we work with little exposure or conversation with people that buy our products. now we are able to visit and recommend these books and cd’s to people.
