About

JARROD DANIEL RICHEY

As for Identity and Vocations: I was born to Suzan Mitchell Richey & Ted Wayne Richey. Married to Sarah Macrery Hilleke Richey. I have three sons. I am a graduate of Grace Christian School in Alexandria, LA. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University. My concentration was in Music and Voice. I am a graduate student with a teaching assistantship at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the Music Department studying Choral Conducting. Vocationally, I work for Auburn Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monroe, LA where I manage their church media, sound, publicity, websites, and technical needs. I teach part-time for Geneva Academy, a Classical Christian School in Monroe, LA. For them I conduct their two choirs and teach the fundamentals of singing and music theory. When I can find time, I am tuning the occasional piano for friends and clients in the Northeast Louisiana area. I don’t get to tune as many pianos as I would like, but absolutely love doing it. I see tuning being a greater portion of my work in the years to come. I really enjoy all of these vocations. I believe that some people are jacks of all trades and masters of none. Others are prodigies and geniuses in one field or another. I am the former.

As for hobbies and interests, they vary: I am a recreational pilot with my Private Pilot’s license for Single Engine Land Aircraft. The only language I feel I can converse in is, Sign Language. Specifically, I feel more comfortable with Signing Exact English than the more and more prevalent, American Sign Language syntax. I hold no formal certification in this but have had the opportunity off and on to interpret and work with the deaf for the better part of 12 years. I have enjoyed playing the piano for 17 years with varying levels of study focus. I enjoy video editing and graphic design. It gives me an opportunity to exercise some creativity even while I don’t possess the ability to draw or paint with my hands alone.

A Member of the Body of Christ—The Church: I am part of the community of believers that are called Christians. I am a member of a local Church with my wife and kids. We believe in the Triune (or Trinitarian) God as expressed in the Bible and affirmed in the Great Creeds of the Church.  It is often important to define Christian in a day and age where everyone calls themselves a Christian. If by Christian you mean, that you believe in the God of the Bible to be the true and living God who has revealed himself in creation and in scripture, then I’m a Christian. I wholeheartedly affirm the Nicene Creed below and find it a better summary of my belief than I could attempt to summarize:

I BELIEVE IN ONE GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY; Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

AND IN ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God; Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven; And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures; And ascended into heaven; And sits on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end.

AND I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY GHOST; the Lord and Giver of life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead; And the life of the world to come. AMEN.

That seems like an adequate “About Me” section. You can gather more about me and fill in the other details yourself.
